Can we have buffet

Question:

Having buffet when there is no enough chairs for serving it properly. We usually serve food in a table and people can take the food from there and sit in available chairs. If there no enough chairs is it permissible to eat while standing? If permissible what is the method of doing it with Shari'a rules?

In Islam sitting is one of the ettiquette of eating food. According to Shafi madhab, standing while eating is makruuh. However it is permissible in case of emergency. But here it is better to wait for seat to have food.
