Assalamu alaikum, We would like to enquire about Sihr and the way to treat it and a particular way this is done in our locality. We live in Kerala, India and in our locality, there are some ulamaa who deal with those who are affected by sihr. They have been doing it for years without taking any payments and many people have also benefitted from this. The way they do this is through many rituals including usage of eggs, coconuts, metal plates with writings etc. They also advice recitation of Quran ayaat during this process. We were told that some of these practices are haram to do even if done to treat Sihr and it is shirk. Kindly advise if such practices other than the recitation of the Quran are permitted to follow. Also, please advice me a the right method to treat "Sihr".

Sihr can be treated in any way without the use of shirk or meaningless phrases.  It's okay to use eggs,coconuts or metal plates with writings in it.
